Raised by an American mother and Austrian father, David grew up in an international environment which began to shape his curiosity about different cultures.
He studied at the University of Virginia from 1995 to 1999 where he completed two bachelor degrees in economics and anthropology.
These studies further strengthened David’s passion for cultural diversity and raised his awareness of many issues facing modern society. Particularly interested in the co-existence between indigenous peoples and technologically advanced societies, David uses the camera to communicate his observations of the world.
Having studied at the Danish School of Photojournalism in Aarhus, Denmark, worked for commercial photographers, and interned at the photo agency VII, David enjoys mixing photographic styles depending on the subject matter.
He enjoys spending time near Washington D.C., where he grew up, in the Tyrolian Alps in Austria and northern Italy, and France where he now resides.
